Modern Faerie Tales e seria de carti pentru “copii mari” scrisa de Holly Black, co-autoarea Cronicilor Spiderwick, care aduce adolescenti cu vieti nu foarte roz intr-o lume a zanelor asemanatoare cu Visul unei nopti de vara, dar mult mai cruda, si nu uita sa puna putin umor din cand in cand. Fiecare capitol incepe cu un citat de Shakespeare, Yates, Plutarh, sau Christina Rossetti, si eu una as fi cumparat cartile doar pentru acestea, cu toata descurajarea facuta de coperta (copertile sunt putin mai mult kitsch, cel putin editiile cu modele lucioase).
Dupa Dosarele lui Dresden, e una din putinele serii pe care le recomand cu tot “sufletul”, mai ales ca Twilight nu m-a transformat in zombie, si seria Sookie Stackhouse m-a lasat cu spranceana ridicata.
Basmele moderne ale lui Holly Black sunt compuse din Tithe, Valiant (care aduce personaje noi) si Ironside, si sunt disponibile in romana la Editura Rao – imi rezerv dreptul de a fi rezervata in privinta traducerilor. Cand romanii or avea un cuvant pentru fey, atunci o sa le cumpar in romana. Pana atunci, prefer editiile in engleza, care ard si mai putin bugetul (in romana, o carte e de obicei 40 ron, si in engleza undeva intre 20-38 ron).
Daca preferi sa citesti o “recenzie” (vai ce urat suna!) pentru fiecare in parte, le gasesti aici, aici si aici.
